What is LQP-79?
Hoax, Virus, or Bacteria?
Many rumors have spread, many angles to look at. More that likely it is a hoax, there is no scientific documentation anywhere for solid poof.
Some say a bacteria which would be more plausible that a virus. Viruses would take to long to affect the body, travel to another person, multiply and so forth, an Rabies x Influenza may would produce such a scenario, but not a likely combination unless synthesized.
Some are saying this could be a nosocomial bacteria. Thought there is no scientific evidence of such a thing. Could it be just a name given to an undiscovered or confirmed bacteria? We have to think, if it is a new undiscovered bacteria that there would be no documentation available. With any new scientific discovery these things have process step(s) collecting samples, analyzing, studying, and publishing papers before they are made available to public knowledge. There needs to be a Species Description (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Species_description) and an understanding of the ecology of the bacteria or virus before we ever hear anything about it.
As rumored the name LQP-79 is a lab creation that was given the name Lysergic Quinine Protein, and the 79th attempt; supposedly to create a mind control substance for ready for human trials.
So to break these down.
Lysergic acid – is a precursor for a wide range of ergoline alkaloids that are produced by the ergot fungus and some plants. Amides of lysergic acid, lysergamides, are widely used as pharmaceuticals and as psychedelic drugs (LSD).
Quinine – a natural white crystalline alkaloid having antipyretic (fever-reducing), antimalarial, analgesic (painkilling), anti-inflammatory properties and a bitter taste. Quinine was the first effective treatment for malaria
Protein – biochemical compounds consisting of one or more polypeptides typically folded into a globular or fibrous form, facilitating a biological function.
These combinations would make absolutely no sense as a mind-control substance to create anything, but a Hippy maybe? Pain killers and LSD = Zombie-like virus? I think not. They could have given a little more thought to the whole name thing. A better mix would be something like Toxoplasma Gondii with a hint of Ophiocordyceps Camponoti-Balzani. We could properly name it TGOCB-79. There that is your real zombie virus name. Smile
6/1: “CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms),” wrote agency spokesman David Daigle in an email to The Huffington Post.

Surely something is going on.. There have been numerous cannibal acts in the past month. I would start broiling my tap water if I were you.
We already have to worry about people robbing, killing, ect.. but now we have to be on the lookout for some deranged crack head jumping out the bushes to get a taste of our ass?!?
